Egypt arrested Rashad Bayyumi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, along with 7 members of Egypt's main opposition group. Bayyumi sits on the Brotherhood's 13-member Guidance Bureau. 3 more members were arrested the next day.

Scientists reported the discovery of a 19-mile wide crater in Egypt’s Sahara desert. The newfound crater, named Kebira, was likely carved by a space rock that was itself roughly 0.75 miles wide in an event that would have been quite a shock, destroying everything for hundreds of miles. It was discovered in satellite images by Boston University researchers Farouk El-Baz and Eman Ghoneim.
