Mortar shells fell on 3 houses in the mixed Sunni-Shiite town of Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad, killing 3 civilians. A fifth mortar shell slammed into the mixed Qadisiyah neighborhood in west Baghdad, killing a woman and wounding a child. At least 47 people were killed as sectarian and insurgent killings continued.
