Topsy the elephant was poisoned electrocuted in Luna Park, Coney Island, NYC. The 10-foot elephant had killed 3 keepers over the last 2 years. Edison used the opportunity to demonstrate the lethal potential of alternating current, promoted by rival George Westinghouse.
