Hans Singer (95), British development theorist, died. He helped set up the UN Development Program. His work with Raul Prebisch of Argentina led to the Prebisch-Singer thesis which said that the benefits of trade were distributed unequally between countries that imported agricultural commodities and those that exported them, to the disadvantage of the exporters.
