Iran’s Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country would proceed with its nuclear program, comparing its nuclear drive to a train that has no reverse gear or brakes. Iran said it had successfully launched its first rocket into space for research purposes. The rocket reached an altitude of 150 kilometers (93 miles) but did not stay in orbit.
