In Afghanistan a suicide bombing at an outdoor dog fighting competition in Kandahar killed 80 people and wounded scores more, in what appeared to be the deadliest terror attack there since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. The attack apparently targeted Abdul Hakim Jan, a militia commander, who had stood up against the Taliban and died in the attack.
