He left his fabulous art collection, fortune, and influence in the Democratic Party to his wife, Pamela Churchill Harriman. She was later appointed by Pres. Clinton as ambassador to France. In 1996 Sally Bedell Smith wrote her biography: "Reflected Glory: The Life of Pamela Churchill Harriman."
